The Project Video - Click here for a youtube download
Our Brotherhood has traditionally used the 1611 Kings James Version of the Bible, and 2011 is the 400th anniversary of this translation. All of our UK based Christadelphian preaching organisations have come together to provide materials under two topics:
a) Dedication
b) Preaching
Some of you will remember 1975/76 when we had “The Year of Dedication” and “The Year of Witness”. This project is similar although this time we are only having a few months of Dedication, followed by a year of Preaching.
Before we preach, and tell people about the Bible message, it is only right for us to “pray without ceasing”, to re-enthuse ourselves; and to consider yet again how great God is. This is, of-course, what we do on a Sunday before we break bread and drink wine. It’s what Paul calls, “examining ourselves”.
DEDICATION
The working group are preparing a number of papers which will be sent out to all Brothers and Sisters. The topics covered are:
- Benefiting from the Daily Readings
- Working with our Sunday Schools and Youth Circles
- Benefiting from the Bible Class
- Appreciating God’s Creation
- Ways to become more spiritual, loving and caring
- Prayer
- Preaching
We realise that many of our younger people spend a lot of time on the internet, using mobile phones, and social-networking sites, so we are posting material for them on Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube.
Our hope is that, God willing, the whole Christadelphian Brotherhood will become enthused with this Dedication and Preaching Effort, and will feel enabled to not only live the Truth better, but will be able to share their hope of the kingdom with friends, neighbours, colleagues and acquaintances.
PREACHING
We are purchasing a huge number of NKJV Bibles, which will be offered to ecclesias at a very affordable price. These will then be able to be given away to those who live around our meeting rooms, and to our own neighbours and friends. Rather than saying “Here’s a leaflet about the Bible”, we can say, “Here’s a free Bible. Please read it.” We are being allowed to write our own few pages of introduction to this Bible, which will be bound in.
Leaflets, DVD’s and booklets will also be available to explain what the Bible is, and to offer an easy-to-follow reading plan.
A new “Bible Newspaper” is being produced, which will give short and simple “news items” about the Bible. This will be made available to give away to friends, or to distribute in our areas.
A fairly substantial book is being written all about the Bible, and about the wonderful hope it contains.
We are also producing a DVD and a set of speakers’ notes about the way the Bible was written, translated, and passed down through the ages.
You are very welcome to contact any of the participating organisations. Click here to find out who they are.
